Ve vztažných větách se u vztažného zájmena ve funkci předmětu často vyskytují předložky. V běžné angličtině stojí zpravidla vyskytují na konci věty, přičemž vztažné zájmeno může být i vynecháno. Jedním ze znaků formálnějšího stylu je umísťování předložek před vztažná zájmena (ta potom nelze vynechat). Zájmena, která je možné vypustit, jsou v následujících příkladech uvedena v závorkách.
