Způsob tvoření

U kondicionálu 3. typu je možné použít také průběhový tvar.

Vedl. věta s "if" (podmínka)	Hlavní věta (výsledek)
If + předminulý čas	minulý průběhový kondicionál
Kdyby se bývalo stalo toto,	bylo by se dělo toto.

Použití

Průběhový tvar se u kondicionálu 3. typu vztahuje k neuskutečněnému výsledku děje vedl. věty s "if" a vyjadřuje tento výsledek jako neukončený či probíhající děj.

Příklady

If the weather had been better (ale nebylo), I'd have been sitting in the garden when he arrived (ale neseděl jsem).
If she hadn't got a job in London (ono ale tu práci dostala), she would have been working in Paris (a v Paříži tudíž nepracuje).
If I had had a ball I would have been playing football.
If I had known it was dangerous I wouldn't have been climbing that cliff.

U všech sloves se skládá ze čtyř částí:

would + have + been + přítomné příčestí

Přítomné příčestí obsahuje kořen slovesa a příponu -ing.

Podmět	+ would	+ have	+ been	+ přítomné příčestí

They	would	have	been	going
