Používání slovesa "come"

Po slovese come následuje gerundium podobně jako po jiných slovesech pohybu a vyjadřuje, že někdo během svého pohybu něco dělá.

Naproti tomu come + infinitiv značí, že něco se děje či vyvíjí, možná mimo kontrolu podmětu.

The book has come to mean something quite different for me.
I have come to see that you were right all along.

Ve spojení come + infinitiv může tento infinitiv rovněž vyjadřovat účel pohybu. Je to podobné jako u jiných sloves vyjadřujících pohyb, po nichž následuje infinitiv.
